The pier (molo) is one of the oldest attractions in Sopot and a much-loved local landmark. Its wooden decks are a favourite place for family and romantic walks, affording beautiful views of the sea. This is one of the longest wooden piers in Europe, stretching up to 511 m into the sea. Its present shape dates back to 1927, however the original small deck was built by Russians in 1817. The area around the pier is a popular venue for tourists, especially in the summer, when there are many open air concerts, performances and cultural events. When you walk off the pier you can follow the famous Sopot promenade – Bohaterow Monte Cassino Street, lined with good restaurants, exclusive shops, cinemas and theatres.
