Passengers flying from the Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, can now check-in and leave their luggage before they get to the airport. On Sunday a new terminal - Terminal Miasto (The City Terminal) was opened. It is the first check-in point in Poland located in the centre of the city.
The new terminal is located at Heweliusza St., opposite Hevelius Hotel. It features 4 check-in desks, a café, tourist information and ticket points. Unfortunatelly, the terminal has no direct connection with the main airport. It is open every day from 8am till 6pm.
In order to check-in at Terminal Miasto, passengers have to come at least three hours before the plane’s departure if they have luggage, and 1,5 hour before if they do not have luggage. One can also check-in 24 h. before the departure time.
Terminal Miasto was intended mainly for tourists, who can check-in in the city centre without a need to take all their luggage to the airport. After checking-in in the city centre, tourists can still do some sightseeing.
Last year, the airport was visited by over 1,7 milion passengers. The authorities plan that about 10% of the tourist traffic will be served by the Terminal Miasto.
