The Dar Pomorza is a Polish sailing frigate, which is preserved in Gdynia harbour as a museum ship, next to the famous destroyer – Blyskawica. She was built in 1909 as the German training ship Prinzess Eitel Friedrich and in 1919 she was seized by the French. In 1929, the frigate was bought by the community of the Polish Pomerania as the new training ship for the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia. The ship was renamed into Dar Pomorza, which means “the gift of Pomerania”. In 1934-35 Dar Pomorza sailed around the world. In 1972 she was the first ship from Eastern Europe to take part in a Tall Ship race. She was a regular participant in those races and became one of world's most popular tall ships at that time. In 1980 she was awarded the Cutty Sark Trophy. One year later she undertook her lat race.
