Arriving in Gdansk by Budget Airlines

| |

If you are interested in visiting the Baltic seaside and other north-western areas of Poland, the best idea is to arrive at the airport in Gdansk. It ranks among the three most important international airports in Poland, with the other two top ones on the list being Warsaw and Cracow. Moreover, following the country's entry into the European Union, Gdansk and other equally interesting tourist destinations are accessible by air thanks to the low-budget airline carriers operating in Poland.

DirectFly GdanskDirectFly (www.directfly.pl) connects major Polish cities. It is the only airline in Poland which offers direct flights between cities with no need to change in Warsaw. From Gdansk flights to Cracow and Wroclaw are on offer.

Ryanair GdanskRyanair (www.ryanair.com) was the first to enter the Polish market. The first services offered were from Wroclaw to London. This Irish low-budget airline started operating in Gdansk on October 30th, 2005. Since then they have expanded their offer and it is possible to fly from Gdansk to the United Kingdom (London Stansted), Germany (Frankfurt Hahn) and Sweden (Stockholm).

Another no frill carrier available is the Hungarian WizzAir (www.wizzair.com) which offers flights from/to the following airport cities: Dortmund, Bonne, Cologne, Hamburg Lubeck (Germany), Glasgow Prestwick, London Luton, Liverpool (the United Kingdom), Stockholm(Sweden) and Cork (Ireland).

CentralWings (www.centralwings.com) – the first Polish budget airline – offers flights to/from Ireland (Dublin) and the United Kingdom (Edinburgh).

Norwegian Air Shuttle (www.norwegian.no) is another low-fare airline which has flights to/from Oslo (Norway).

The Scandinavian low cost airline SAS offers direct flights to Copenhagen (Denmark).

The exact information on all the flights on offer from/to Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport and the carriers can be found at: www.airport.gdansk.pl/service/en/index2.php

There are also flights offered by regular airline carriers like LOT Polish Airlines (Warsaw, Munich, Hamburg and Franfurt upon Maine) and Lufthansa (Munich)
