14th Solidarity Marathon
This annual event is organized since 1981. The aim of the Marathon is to honor Victims of December 1970 and Fallen Shipyard Workers as well as popularize and propagate running as the simplest for of recreation.
PROGRAMME:
1. The race will be held on 15 August 2008 on the streets of the Three-City with the finish in the Old Town in Gdansk.
2. Honorary start: Monument of Victims of December 1970 in Gdynia (former finish)
–Aleja Pilsudskiego – 10 a.m.
3.Fast start:10.15 a.m.Gdynia,Aleja Pi³sudskiego (next to Gdynia City Hall)
4.Finish:Gdansk,Dlugi Targ (the Old Town)
5.The length of the route:42.195 km – the route is certified by PZLA and IAAF
6.Participants of the race line up at the starting line in the following order:
· Contestants on rollerblades
· Contestants in wheelchairs
· Runners
7.The route will be marked each 5 km
8.Timing will be done in chip syste .Official ti e is calculated as gross time.
PARTICIPATION
1.Only persons who by 15 August 2008 have turned 18 are entitled to enter the 14 th
Edition of “Solidarnosc” Marathon.
2.The identity of all contestants must be verified at the Organizing Office from 14 to
15 August 2008.
3.During verification all competitors are obliged to show their identity cards or
passports as well as receipt of pay ent of participation fee.
4.Contestants on rollerblades are obliged to wear helmets during the race.
